Series 7 of record group 73-73 consists of refinery and purchase nominations, from the Michigan Department of Conservation's Geological Survey Division for the years 1962-1963. These estimates of petroleum needs are collected by the state in an effort to monitor the crude oil receipts of Michigan refineries and determine their future requirements. Includes: name of refinery; average daily capacity; average daily crude oil processed for the previous month; average daily processed expected for the forthcoming month; pipeline companies delivering crude to the refinery; oil storage tank capacity; and amount of oil in storage. Reports also call for crude oil gathers to list amount of oil obtained from Michigan oil fields each month; amount accepted from out-of-state sources; oil delivered to industries for purposes other than refining and name of receiving industry; and amount of crude oil in storage.
